One of the most valuable lessons I learned throughout my Operational Excellence journey was that organisations cannot improve work they cannot clearly see.
Across multiple departments, many processes existed only in people's heads. Team members understood how work was completed, but there was little visual documentation showing how activities moved between stakeholders, where decisions occurred or where inefficiencies existed.
To address this, I introduced structured business process mapping and workflow design across multiple teams.
Over time, I created more than 150 workflow maps spanning six teams.
These workflows became far more than documentation. They became operational assets used for onboarding, knowledge management, quality assurance, continuous improvement, consultant engagement, offshoring and eventually AI-enabled learning.
